USAAIO CLUBBASIS Scottsdale

STUDENT QUICK START · AIO-SI1

Your first week
starts here.

USAAIO Club is a student-led, one-hour weekly learning community for building the mathematics, coding, and machine-learning reasoning used in AI Olympiad problems.

THE WEEKLY RHYTHM

Learn together. Practice independently.

The meeting introduces ideas and unblocks students. Deeper learning continues through the portal between meetings.

01

Before Club

Check the current lesson, bring questions, and make sure your Colab files are accessible.

02

During Club

Review a concept, solve a worked example, code or reason together, and begin a challenge.

03

After Club

Complete all required questions, review feedback, and try up to ten optional mastery problems.

FIRST CLUB MEETING · 60 MINUTES

Orientation plus a real AI foundation.

The first meeting is not a long lecture. Students leave knowing how the Club works and having completed their first mathematical AI activity.

  1. Welcome & purpose

Meet the student leaders, understand the Round 1 goal, and see how the Club year is organized.

  2. Portal setup

Sign in, choose a nickname and pixel avatar, and find lessons, feedback, practice, and the leaderboard.

  3. How the Club works

Review the weekly rhythm, homework expectations, Colab workflow, XP rules, and responsible AI policy.

  4. AI readiness check

Try a short, low-stakes set of Python, vector, matrix-shape, and reasoning questions.

  5. First concept lab

Work together on a compact example connecting vectors and matrix shapes to AI data.

  6. Your first mission

Open Lesson 1, identify all required questions and ten optional mastery problems, and save a draft.

  7. Exit ticket

Share one thing you understood, one question you still have, and your plan before the next meeting.

PORTAL BASICS

Five things every student should know.

Required

Complete every required question and show the reasoning, calculations, or code behind the answer.

Feedback

Automatic questions return a result quickly. Written reasoning and code may wait for instructor review.

Optional mastery

Ten additional problems deepen the lesson. A score of 90% may unlock the next lesson early when enabled.

Google Colab

Work in a copy saved to your own Drive, run the notebook, and share a viewable link when submitting.

XP

Required homework earns up to 100 XP per lesson. Each correct or instructor-approved optional problem earns 2 bonus XP, up to 20 per lesson.

USE AI RESPONSIBLY

AI can support your learning. It cannot replace your understanding.

AI may be used to understand concepts, request hints, debug code, or check completed work. AI may not be used to generate an answer that you cannot independently explain.
